What happens when we attentively listen – to the space around us, to each other, to the things we usually don’t notice?

Nine young people (aged 16–19) have gathered at Atelier Nord over the course of eight monthly workshops to listen, learn about and explore sounds. They have worked artistically with sound, investigated the building and its surroundings at Olaf Ryes plass, and delved into the many layers of history embedded in the area. Along the way they have met sound artists, tested different types of microphones, explored recording techniques, and experimented with acoustics. Towards the end of the project, sharing reflections became an important part of the process, and listening was explored as a tool with potential in facing a future that can sometimes feel unpredictable.

The result is a process-based sound installation where the audience is invited into the participants’ reflections, questions, experiences and perspectives. The nine young people will be present for conversation – and perhaps some performative moments along the way. They open up a space where listening becomes more than just hearing – it becomes a way of investigating, sharing and creating together.

The event will be held in Norwegian, with light refreshments served.
